Welcome to the Northwest District!
Current News: Tally Flyer | Lay Speaking |

The Northwest District of the NGC of the UMC is composed of 83 churches composing 74 charges, 78 clergy under appointment to local churches, retired pastors, and over 18,000 lay members located in 11 different counties in Northwest Georgia. The churches are both large and small with some in the middle. In addition we have two clergy appointed to extension ministries and four clergy on leave. The ministries of our pastors are as varied as our churches. We are seeking to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our communities and beyond.

We have all size churches growing and doing great ministry for their communities. Many of our churches show size does not define or limit vitality. Every church of every size can be effective in reaching persons for Jesus Christ and have a vital mission ministry. Our mission is both through the connection and to our communities. Every church of every size should be both a house of worship and a service station. Our worship should call us and motive us to and for service.

The District mission statement is: “Our mission is to enable churches to birth and mature disciples of Jesus Christ.” We seek to fulfill it through training, accountability, and mutual support.

If you have not found a church home in your community and your community is in Northwest Georgia, we would love to help you. You will find the United Methodist Churches of Northwest Georgia to be warm service stations where you can be served and be in service to others.

I am proud to be in ministry with the United Methodist Churches of the Northwest District. This year I am especially proud to be in my seventh year as District Superintendent. No District Superintendent had served six years in this area since 1978. I am proud of my new record of longevity but it is nothing to be proud of if it means we have just grown old together. I am proud of what we have accomplished together but I by no means consider the mission complete. I am seeking God’s help and guidance as we seek to make this our best year yet. I invite both laity and clergy to partner with me to make this conference year a year of advancement for the Kingdom of God in Northwest Georgia. Let us walk together this year, not just in pride but in productivity for the Kingdom of God
